Noosa River by Ferry, Boat, Pontoon, Jet Ski or Gondola

The Noosa River is truly beautiful but especially when you are on it.  There are many options that can take you from the river mouth, through the estates or up through to Lake Cooroibah.

The M.V. Noosa Queen

The M.V. Noosa Queen offers a Group Lunch Cruise, a Seafood Cruise, an Eco Cruise and their much-loved Sunset Cruise. The Group Lunch and Seafood Cruises take you around the spectacular homes of Noosa Sound and through to the natural upper reaches of the Noosa River and Lake Cooroibah. Cruise past Richard Branson's Makepeace Island, get close to natural wildlife with kangaroos, Sea Eagles and other native birdlife fed directly from the boat, and watch the sky light up with colour as the sun sets over Lake Cooroibah.

You can bring your own nibbles but drinks need to be purchased from the fully licensed bar onboard, which has a good selection and is very reasonably priced.

If you'd rather go by daylight, their Eco Cruise runs on Wednesdays and takes you through the Noosa Biosphere with binoculars and a bird identification book on hand, plus tea, coffee and biscuits included.

The Noosa Ferry Cruise Company

The Noosa Ferry Cruise Company has three options.

  1. The Ferry Cruise takes you from Tewantin to Hastings Street with several stops in between. You can buy a one way, return or all day pass and get on and off as many times as you would like.

  2. The BYO Sunset Cruise glides amongst the yachts of Woods Bay, past the fine waterfront homes of Noosa Sound and out towards the river mouth as the sun goes down. Bring along your favourite drinks for the journey.

  3. The Stillwater Signature Sunset Cruise, a more elevated experience, this one runs aboard their newer hybrid vessel, HV Stillwater, and comes with welcome drinks and nibbles included. A paradise all of its own.

O Boat Hire

Rent a boat, Pontoon or Jet Ski and self guide through the river. Anchoring or beaching your vessel at the Noosa River mouth white sandy beach on the north side is a beautiful spot that provides great swimming. There are a number of rental company options including O Boat Hire.

Noosa Catalina

If you're feeling like a party and a boogie , M.V. Catalina is the one to book.

Billing itself as Noosa's floating beach club, their Catalina Sunsets cruise runs Friday to Sunday afternoons and evenings with a live DJ, flowing cocktails and a light meal on board, all set against golden hour on the Noosa River. It's 18+ only and departs from Catalina Jetty on Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, the perfect pick for a birthday, hens do, or just letting loose with friends.

Gondola’s of Noosa

When it comes to something romantic on the Noosa River, a Gondola cruise with Gondolas of Noosa is an amazing choice. Glide through the canals of Noosa Sound and out towards Noosa North Shore and the river mouth, taking in the wildlife and Noosa's most lavish waterfront houses as you go.

Bring your own drinks and nibbles on a BYO cruise (ice and glasses provided), or let them handle it all with a Catered Lunch or Dinner Cruise featuring dishes from nearby Ricky's River Bar & Restaurant.

Gondolas seat up to 6, so it's just as perfect for an intimate cruise for two as it is a celebration with friends. Ideal for a sunset cruise, pre-dinner drinks on the way to your favourite waterfront restaurant, or even a proposal. Ask about their secluded beach stop to make the moment unforgettable.
